Progression: Personal Statement Analysis

As to further enrich my understanding of the process of writing a personal statement, I am to analyse an existing personal statement - as to further inform the writing of my own through inferring desirable qualities. 












In this section they talk about their employment and how that relates to the degree they hope to study. This is an essential thing to mention if applicable in a personal statement is and is something I will use. Demonstrating to the university that you are regimented as well as having a transferable skill set puts one above most other applicants.



Showing genuine interest in your course is also integral - this can be demonstrated in one's personal statement through discussing aspects of the field you wish to study in that are not tied to your course. This shows intuition as well as a genuine drive to achieve in a given topic.

'Storyboarding Masterclass' by Sam Horton In todays lesson for Creative Media Practice - we have had the opportunity to attend a talk by Sam Horton, an industry specialist in storyboarding. 'Storyboarding Masterclass' I found to be a very interesting talk - with many takeaways about how this process works in industry. I find this to be advantageous as receiving this information from someone who has industry experience is useful as it gives, us students, insight in to industry terminology and practices we otherwise would not have known had we not attended this talk.  In this post - I will compile and elaborate on notes that I taken during this talk, as well as giving background on Sam Horton's work and what I skills I have learned from attending this talk. In conjunction with our 'Skills development' class - our class was instructed to attend a talk with Andrew Glover, a lecturer of journalism at Sunderland University , about the journalism courses offered at Sunderland University . Three courses were discussed: BA Journalism , BA Sports Journalism , and BA Fashion Journalism .
